2015 update

We began collecting Nativity in 1991 when I was the Activity Director of Sacred Heart Home in Hyattsville. I needed activities that did not take place in the Social Hall. So, I asked the department heads and nuns to bring in their nativities to make a special display in the residents dining room. At that time we only had two nativities, our original plastic one and a white ceramic one make by Lois Fuller, one of Jack's birth cousins.
The collection has grown to 804 sets as of today. Anything, excluding cards, that shows the Holy Family (Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus) or the three kings counts as a "set."  Our smallest set is a thimble and our largest is a large outdoor set. Each year we display around 600 between Thanksgiving and the end of January.
Our motivation is to remind people of the real meaning of Christmas: Jesus Christ was born to save us from our sins. We hope that you will be inspired as you view this blog.
